Battle of the Bands

Um… this is not very exciting and probably, no one cares but trust me nothing else that happened this week is any better. Anyways, this wednesday my school band is going to a music competition thats called Kiwanis. Our music teacher says we are lucky just to be able to compete, which I think may be code for “ we have no chance of winning”. But oh well because it will be a good experience and I’ll get to miss school! Oh and by the way, I want to figure out how many people read these blogs every week, so if you read it, can you leave a comment to let me know? Thanks.

Huh????????

Where's the food?
me in my grandma
&Grandpa’s kitchen How To Make Rock Candy!

Things you will need:
-hot water
-white sugar
-pencil
-glass
-20 cm of string

First you must fill the glass up halfway with hot water. Then you must put about two(I put about two) teaspoonfuls of white sugar into the hot water. Then you take your pencil and wrap the string around it so that there is hanging down to reach the bottom of the glass and have a bit sit on the bottom. This is important to make sure the sugar collects on the string properly. Next you knot the string around the top of the pencil so that it will stay in place. Finally, wait. The next day you should see a few crystals forming on the string. Wait about a week if you want them all to collect into rock candy. If it’s not big enough wait a little bit longer.
Today I started this experiment. I added blue food dye to make my rock candy blue. You can add any colour and the candy will turn that colour. This is a good activity on a boring day where you have nothing to do. Yummy!
I’m looking forward to eating it!
