I had a great time this afternoon seeing Chris and Jeff. They drove up from Ottawa this morning to see their old high school buddy (me!). Between cracking jokes and reliving old memories, the time went by too quickly… it is great to keep in touch, after too many years of neglecting friendships on my part. And speaking of “old” friends, the topic of conversation ventured into the aging territory. Like – you know you are in your forties when all the little signs of aging begin to noticeably accelerate! If you don’t know what I mean, enjoy being 29 for as long as you can! Chris is planning for his next marathon run and Jeff is enjoying increasing success in business and looking forward to summer activities with his boys. As for me, I look forward – as best as I am able given the health challenges that I face – to future visits and little things to keep my mind active, like blogging, watching tv (mind active??), following world news, etc… Have a safe trip home, Chris and Jeff – nice to see you.

Stuck in a tree
This is Erin again. My friends and I were recently in the Don Valley. We climbed up, but forgot how to climb down!
Maru & Michael
It was rather exciting to see Maru and Michael. Michael and I are still pretty much the same after so many years. Maru has a real opportunity now to “fix” the little faults, although I don’t think there is much to tweak…. Michael has always been a solid person with an incredible work ethic. Perhaps now, they can ease up and take more time to “enjoy the roses”. As for me, Kristine has given up on me by now, I am afraid
It was sad to see them leave, since I can only manage so many visitors within any given month, and northwestern Mexico is so far away. Studying the cosmos is something that both Michael and I initially trained for, but he has taken it to an exciting career as a professional astronomer. Maybe someday when the lyme disease and other health issues have abated, I will literally get back on my feet and be able to visit them in Mexico, as well as friends in Ottawa, Edmonton, North Bay, Barrie, etc…. For now, being bedridden is a learning experience in patience, perseverance and persistence.
My advice is to
- enjoy every minute of life
- don’t work all of the time
- keep well!
- don’t let the ticks bite…
Retreat! Retreat!
This weekend I went on a retreat with my youth group at Bridlewood Presbyterian Church. it was fun and I learned to play a new card game.We had a talent show, played broom ball and went sledding too. Also, I got accepted to an arts high school called Rosedale Heights School For The Arts and I’m probably going to go. Some other people I know from school got accepted too.
P.A. Day
On Friday afternoon I went sledding with my two best friends. We had no school because it was a PA day. We went sledding on a really good hill. On Thursday we had gotten some new sleds. It was a really good day for sledding, just the perfect amount of snow. We got a magic carpet and a skidoo. We even connected our sleds to make a train, but we fell off a lot. Sledding is really fun. I think we should do it more. I really love winter. After we finished sledding my friends came over to my house. We had hot chocolate and cookies that I made. We played many games like Kerplunk. One of my friends helped me make a big Littlest Pet Shop town out of my twenty-eight littlest pet shop animals and little buildings.
The next night my family and I went skating at an outdoor public skating rink. I am finally getting better at skating. After we climbed on some snow mountains from the zamboni. They were really high. I really loved those snow mountains.
I am looking forward to getting more snow than we already have!

Fun is Where it’s At!
Fun, fun, fun is pretty much all I’m having right now. On Tuesday my class went to a Greenhouse to study weather. On Feb. 1, we also will be going to the ROM. Also on Feb.7 my class will be going to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra also known as the TSO. At the ROM my class will be studying Ancient Egypt. We will get to touch real artifacts. At the Toronto Symphony Orchestra my class, along with at least thirty other classes from different schools will get to play a song with the orchestra. I am sure I will have a good time.
I am enjoying volleyball very much. We have learned the proper way to bump and the proper way to volley. How you do the proper bump is to straighten out your arms and bend your wrists back a bit. That creates a straight, flat platform, so that when you bump it won’t hurt very much.
On Saturday I went sledding with my best friend Rachel. I fell off a lot. I found three quarters in the snow while we were sledding. With that I got some candy for each of us. It was a very good day for sledding. After I went to Rachel’s house to play. We played a really fun game for three hours. It was called iToy. It’s a game on the TV where you have a camera and it senses where you are and what you are doing. There are different things you can do like boxing, soccer and washing windows. You move as if you are really in the game but you actually aren’t touching anything, like hitting a soccer ball on your head. Where your head is in the game is where the soccer ball is on the tv and when your head goes where the soccer ball ‘is’ the ball goes back up in the air on the screen. I can’t wait to try that again.
