Can’ t Wait

I’m sick. Great. Well anyway yesterday my mom and I went to see a movie. The movie we saw was “ Bridge To Terabithia ”. It is a pretty good movie. Though it is a bit sad, at the same time it is happy. I do like it a lot though. A couple days ago at school we had a science test on the human body. I did well, I got an A plus. Now back to me being sick. My throat hurts quite a bit, and my head hurts just a tiny bit. You have no idea how hard is to swallow. It hurts too.
You know sometimes I like winter and sometimes I don’ t. I do not like the cold, but I love the snow. I also really do not like the dull, gray and plain look everything has. I mean even the trees look like they are old weak and tired. The wood on our deck is even dull looking. I can’ t wait till spring where everything is young , fresh and new looking. When it is also my birthday! I just can’ t wait!!!!!

P.A. Day

On Friday afternoon I went sledding with my two best friends. We had no school because it was a PA day. We went sledding on a really good hill. On Thursday we had gotten some new sleds. It was a really good day for sledding, just the perfect amount of snow. We got a magic carpet and a skidoo. We even connected our sleds to make a train, but we fell off a lot. Sledding is really fun. I think we should do it more. I really love winter. After we finished sledding my friends came over to my house. We had hot chocolate and cookies that I made. We played many games like Kerplunk. One of my friends helped me make a big Littlest Pet Shop town out of my twenty-eight littlest pet shop animals and little buildings.

The next night my family and I went skating at an outdoor public skating rink. I am finally getting better at skating. After we climbed on some snow mountains from the zamboni. They were really high. I really loved those snow mountains.

I am looking forward to getting more snow than we already have!

eating through the alphabet

Writing a blog is a very strange thing to me. I am writing for others to read, but I don’t know who will read it. It’s hard for all of us to figure what to write about – except David, who has the quietest life!
So here goes: during the holidays the girls came up with the idea of eating through the alphabet. We started on January 2nd and have kept it up with only a day off here and there. Today we ate ‘n’. At the beginning we only ate foods that started with that letter but that was challenging to fill in the veggies etc. so now it’s the main course and whatever else we can. So far we have had apple pancakes, beef and bean burritos, chicken crepes, dolomathes (the girls weren’t too thrilled)-anybody want a jar of leftover grape leaves?, enchiladas, …… Catherine and Erin have been busy helping plan the menus, looking through cookbooks for ideas. Erin has enjoyed baking some theme letter desserts ( such as ‘ginger’ crinkles). We’ve tried some new things and it’s been kind of fun. We’re looking forward to quiche and zucchini.

David’s commentary

November sunsetThe picture to the left was taken in November by Kristine – the view from in front of our house was spectacular. The sunset went through about 6 distinct phases, including this combination of mauve, rose, and purple hues ( I really have no idea if the colours are correctly labelled – I am a guy, of course). Today was an interesting day…. Kristine took me to get my hair cut (first time in almost 5 months!), then she decided to go all risky on us and got a totally different hair style. Catherine and Erin spent the whole evening today commenting on it. It actually looks pretty good. I pointed out that I could have had my hair cut 3 times for the price of her hair style – evidently not the right thing to say (I failed the pre-marriage counselling course). Kristine has been very busy being on call 24 hours a day for mental health at the hospital. Last night the pager shattered the silence just before midnight and again just after 6 a.m. Never boring around here 😉

Happy New Year

Leggett FamilyHappy New Year to everyone. We are starting a new project for 2007. All of us will be posting recent photos, snippets, and family happenings to this blog, in the hopes that communication can be fostered with our friends and relatives. This picture was taken by our camera (balanced on a rock) in Taylor Creek Park, Toronto, on October 8th, 2006. This was the last time I was able to walk… hopefully 2007 will be a year of blessing for all of us 🙂
