Lyme Disease on CTV W5 takes flight!

If you are interested in capturing a glimpse into our lives, CTV W5 has put together an investigative news piece about lyme disease in Canada. Hopefully the Leggett family part of the production will not be too embarrassing…

Dates & Times: Sat. Nov. 14th, 7:00 p.m. — repeated Sun. Nov. 15th, 12 noon (times are EST)

The CTV W5 web site will feature the show, in case you missed it or want to see it again. Once it has been posted, please consider leaving a comment at the bottom of the Lyme show page – I think there will be a link to email W5 directly about the show. The more comments received, the more likely CTV will do other news features or even followup W5 shows on the effects of lyme disease on Canadians like ourselves. Thank you all for your support. With continued effort, more resources will be marshaled against the scourge that is lyme disease. There is hope.

  1. We were deeply touched by your story and are so thankful that you along with others featured in the CTV story are helping to raise the alarm concerning this disease, the inaccuracy of the tests used in Canada and the ignorance of many in the Canadian medical community concerning this disease at a time when many will be headed out doors.

Since you cannot take anti-biotics, I would strongly recommend that you investigate the potential benefits of an anti-bacterial and anti-viral essential oil (which my family and I take orally often) instead of anti-biotics. With a household of 7 including 5 children and all the flus, ear infections, bronchitus and other things that would normally require anti-biotics, we have rarely (maybe twice) had to use anti-biotics in over 5 years and typically only when we are out of the essential oil. The one I recommend is certified organic and sold by a US company called Young Living as is a essential oil blend called “Thieves” because of its being patterned after the essential oils used by grave robbers to protect them against the black plague. I’ve provided information on how we use it below. I would also recommend that you get the two books mentioned below. Please note, I am not a medical doctor (goodness knows how helpful they have been in your case), nor should this be considered medical advice, but is our personal opinion and experience.

Here’s is How We Use It:

    • Two-Four drops on the top of the tongue. Some people have to dilute it 4 to 1 with Olive Oil, but we find we can take it directly. Can also be placed on the crown of the head
    • A couple of drops placed in the palm of the hand and rubbed on the throat, chest or wherever we’re feeling discomfort. Depending upon the sensitivity or thinness of the skin on the throat, you may have to add Extra Virgin Olive Oil to sooth any burning, but we find we can apply directly or dilute 1 to 1 or 1 to 4.
    • Simultaneously, we find it helpful to place 4-6 drops in the palm of the hand and rub under the soles of the feet (concentrating on the areas under the toes and up to ¾ of the length of the foot from the toes).
    • If I have a headache or a cloudy mind I place a couple of drops on my palm and rub in on the lower back of the neck (T4 & T5 location) and it usually takes care of it within a few minutes if the cause is not a musculoskeletal mis-alignment. We got so used to using it for headaches, fevers, etc. that we didn’t realize we had no aspirin or Tylenol in the house until asked for some by a visitor, searching and realizing we haven’t had need of either for years.
    • Caution: Be very careful not to get the oils into or close to your eyes or touch your eyelids when your hands have had the oils on them and have not been washed with soap. The only way to dilute oils is with other oils, so you should always have some Extra Virgin Olive Oil ready to be dispensed (ideally with a dropper) when using the essential oils, should it be too strong wherever you are using it.
    • Caution: Do not use Thieves Essential Oil if allergic to Cinnamon. You should test for allergic reaction to the Thieves oil by placing a small drop on a cotton swab and touching the underside of your foot, then if no reaction, the inside of your forearm. If you do get a reaction, dilute with Olive Oil and wash with soap and water. There are other non-blended oil that you can use if allergic to Cinnamon.
